Welcome
If you are reading this, chances are you are feeling stuck. Maybe you find yourself repeating old patterns you know aren’t working for you. Or possibly you are mired in grief, anger or depression. Perhaps you are having problems in your relationships. Whatever it is, it’s keeping you from living the life you want. And it’s time for a change.
Why It’s Hard To Do On Your Own
You may be puzzled as to why you can’t seem to make the changes on your own. You’re smart. Perhaps you have some ideas as to what the source of the problem is, and still you find yourself repeating the same patterns. Quite often that is because the patterns and beliefs that are not working for you have been there since you were very young. In fact, they are such a part of you now that they can be hard to see in any objective way. That’s why it can help to have someone assist you with the process.
The Benefits of Psychotherapy
As a trained psychotherapist, my goal is to create a safe space where together we can explore, recognize and gain more insight into the areas that are troubling you, making grounded change possible.
An important aspect of my approach is helping clients see themselves through the lense of compassionate curiosity, rather than the shame and blame that too often accompanies pain and difficulty. As this skill strengthens, the ability to self reflect from a kinder place makes it easier to sort through want you want to keep, what you want to change, and what you want to let go of.
The deeper understanding of who you are and what you want also creates a personal agency that helps you better connect with yourself, your world, and the people in your life.
The Consultation
Trust is critical in therapy, and so the fit between client and therapist is important. With that in mind I offer a free initial consultation so we can meet, you can get a sense of my approach and ask any questions you might have. In that way, we can determine if I am the right therapist for you.
To set up a free initial consultation, or for further information, call me at (416) 788-1200 or send an email to gaylebaker@teksavvy.com
